KFAS and Huawei sign MoU for ICT Talent Development

The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), and Huawei Technologies Kuwait, a leading global information and communication technology (ICT) solutions provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a set of talent programs, with the aim to equip the next generation of ICT leaders in Kuwait with the necessary skills to succeed in different fields.

These programs aim to nurture aspiring ICT professionals with skills related to latest technological developments such as big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and pervasive technologies that will further empower them to be at the forefront of innovation.

ICT has become a crucial growth engine for society and many different industries. In line with Huawei’s goal to build a healthy ICT talent ecosystem with enhanced digital capabilities, this partnership with KFAS will enable students, as well as employees from the private and public sectors, to fuel growth into key sectors and industries and as a result benefit Kuwait with seamless connectivity, improved infrastructure and way of life to ensure a brighter economic future.

Dr. Adnan A. Shihab Eldin, Director General of KFAS, said, “KFAS has sought to harness the potential of science, technology and innovation in Kuwait for the last four decades. Our new partnership with Huawei Technologies Kuwait will further stimulate the advancement of technology for the benefit of society, research and enterprise in Kuwait. Moreover, it will bridge the gap between academic knowledge and hands-on experience in order to create a cohesive society in which everyone benefits equally.”

Rico Lin, CEO of Huawei Technologies Kuwait, said, “The signing of our MoU with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences falls in line with Huawei’s broader commitment to the country’s mission to fuel national ICT competitiveness and contribute to local communities. We are glad to have KFAS as our newest strategic partner in helping build a generation of forward-thinking local ICT professionals, making the vision of transforming Kuwait into a digitized country possible as part of the Kuwait Vision 2035.”

KFAS recently participated in Huawei’s flagship CSR program, “Seeds for the Future”, through which Kuwaiti college students were selected to be part of the annual information and communications technology (ICT) training program at the Huawei Campus and R&D Centers in China.
