International Collaborative Programs

In the pursuit of its goal of creating and sustaining a science-based culture in Kuwait, KFAS continues to extend its global vision to create strategic partnerships with the world's finest scientific and research institutions.  By providing a range of collaborative research programs, workshops and conferences, KFAS offers policymakers, researchers and business executives in Kuwait the chance to work alongside prestigious universities, think tanks and professional associations worldwide.

These programs are viewed as an important catalyst for building research capacity, advancement of science and technology transfer to Kuwait and the Gulf region, and facilitate communication between Kuwaiti decision-makers and the world, leading to a better problem-solving practice.

  • THE KUWAIT PROGRAM FOR CONTEMPORARY ARAB CULTURE – UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY October 11 , 2017 California, USA (2015 - 2018)

    The pilot program with the University of California, Berkeley is funded by KFAS on behalf of Kuwait University to execute scholarly exchange programs, enable shared research on cultural and urban development, and create opportunities for Kuwaiti professionals to pursue advanced post-professional engagement.

  • OXFORD INSTITUTE FOR ENERGY STUDIES (OIES) October 11 , 2017 Oxford, UK (2013 - 2018)

    An agreement has been signed between KFAS and OIES to devote in-depth research by OIES staff and associate network of researchers in Kuwait, to make the program’s research findings accessible to as wide a public as possible, to offer capacity-building opportunities in cooperation between OIES and Kuwaiti institutions, in research and the final workshop, as well as via opportunities for visiting fellowships for Kuwaiti academics, and internship opportunities for Kuwaiti students.

  • THE WORLD ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (TWAS) FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES October 11 , 2017 Trieste, Italy (1987 - Ongoing)

    An agreement was signed between KFAS and TWAS to contribute to the Academy’s Endowment Fund as well as offer a yearly contribution for the Academy to support human scientific capacity building in the Arab Region with special focus on young scientists and communicate the importance of science for the developing world through publication and dissemination.

  • THE KUWAIT PROGRAM AT THE INTERNATIONAL CENTRE For THEORETICAL PHYSICS (ICTP) October 11 , 2017 Trieste, Italy (1981 - Ongoing)

    The Program's goals include fostering the growth of advanced studies and research in physics and mathematics, especially among researchers from developing countries; providing an international forum for the exchange of information and ideas among scientists from the North and South; and maintaining excellent research facilities for visitors, associates and fellows, principally from developing countries, who participate in the Centre's research and training activities.

    The Kuwait Program is a strategic partnership between KFAS and the LSE. The Programme is based in the LSE Middle East Centre and funds systematic and practical enquiry into fundamental questions in the social sciences of relevance to Kuwait.
