Water Saving & Conservation Pilot Project

The State of Kuwait ranks third worldwide in average water consumption per capita with a daily fresh water consumption rate of nearly 500 liters per person, which is twice the consumption rate of Europe. Yet, in water resources, Kuwait is among the poorest countries.

Kuwait relies on sea water desalination as a primary source of fresh water, in spite of its high cost and the need to link it to the electric power grid to produce water steam vital for such a process.

The Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) has recently initiated and funded a series of pilot projects aiming at conserving energy and water. These projects seek to raise awareness on the use of proven technologies that reduce waste and depletion of natural resources.
